My dear friend Lisa and I share an obsession with wool. We weep over the possibilities of a discarded moth-eaten sweater. Okay... we don't really weep, but it's safe to say that we share an excitement of possibilities. Transforming found things into treasures is my passion.
A few years ago, Lisa came across a simple mitten pattern and we began sewing mittens. I love needlework, and decided to further embellish the felted wool with original, handmade designs. I've made these as gifts and sold them. Somehow, the idea of taking wool cast-offs and upcycling them into something new and usable felt like a resurrection of sorts. The creative process has always driven me.
As summer winds down, I again find myself giddy over the stack of sweaters I've obtained. Autumn's approach gives nod to the large basket of woolen yarns that will become the hand-stitched designs on mittens, pillows, scarves, and yet undiscovered treasures.
What are the "woolens" that could use a breath of new life in your world?
Live and create intentionally,
Kristi
Kristi - everything you touch creatively has a special sparkle to it. I'm trying to follow my creativity along with you and just let it flow. LOVE LOVE your mittens.
ReplyDeleteNice, Kristi. Your words inspire me to do something creative! That part of me has atrophied I think, so it may take some serious effort on my part. Blessings to you as you change directions slightly :-) I look forward to seeing more of your creations! Love you heaps!
